Florentine photographer who operated his own studio from 1860. He began to photograph works of art in ca. 1862-63. He gained fame for his photos of Palestine in the 1860s. His son Carlo and brother Alfredo took over the company upon Giacomo's death in 1881, operating it until their deaths in 1925. Carlo and Alfredo focused on painting reproductions. The company was passed down through other relations until the late 20th century, when it folded due to a number of factors including competition from Alinari.
