Poëzat, Église Saint-Julien

Parish of the former diocese of Clermont in the gift of the bishop. The three-bay single-vessel nave was originally barrel vaulted; it now has a wooden roof. The crossing space opened into barrel-vaulted transept arms (apsidal chapel on the south side) and a barrel-vaulted choir bay with rounded apse. The deep mural arcade of the nave and the massive exterior buttresses are an indication that a space intended for a wooden roof has been adapted for a barrel vault, probably in the 12th century.
