Notes

The high altar was consecrated in 1628, and enshrines a Byzantine icon of the Blessed Virgin traditionally painted by St Luke. Contrary to popular thought, it was not designed by Bernini but Orazio Turriani. There are 15 side chapels in Sant’Agostino. Giovanni Lafranco decorated the BuonGiovanni chapel in 1616.
