The temple originally formed an island in the middle of a baray, perhaps to symbolize the home of Hindu gods Mount Meru. The baray is now dry. The entrances to the towers are cut from a single block of stone, as at Bakong. The western two temples are decorated with reliefs of female divinities holding fly whisks, and the eastern two temples are decorated with male guardians holding tridents. In the center of the four sanctuaries is a linga on a pedestal, with sandstone channels that extend from it in the cardinal directions. It is speculated that holy water poured over the linga would flow into the channels.
