Notes
Lakulia ('the lord with a staff, or a mace') was a prominent Shaivite reformist, deified as an incarnation of Shiva in the 6th–8th century. Almost all of his images are ithyphallic, symbolising the refined energetic principles —Urdhva Retas — and often accompanied by animals.
