SEE BACK; XI-St.F-5; An historic, English; Gothic church whose present building was erected in 1858. The church, and its original congregation, was organized in 1826. This venerable house of worship is a brick structure with a bell tower at the rear. It; stands in a grove of moss-draped oaks enclosed by an elaborate cast-iron fence. Its churchyard cemetery contains interesting headstones, monuments and tombs. The church building was badly damaged during the Civil War by fire from Union gun boats, but today is restored to its original state.
