Acadian House Museum; St. Martinville, Louisiana, United States; SEE BACK; V-St.M-2; ACADIAN HOUSE MUSEUM, St. Martinville, La. --The tragic story of Emmeline Labiche, immortalized as the Evangeline of Henry Wadsowrth Longfellow's epic poem, is commemorated at Longfellow-Evangeline State Park. The Acadian House, built in 1760, is now a museum containing furnishings and other items depicting the way of life of the early Acadian settlers. In South Louisiana's heartland, language and customs of those exiled from Nova Scotia more than 200 years ago are still very much in evidence among the French Acadians of the area.; 24086
