SEE BACK; IX NO 53; 721 Gov. Nicholls Street.; This house, erected in 1814 for Jean Baptiste Thierry, embodies as much of the spirit of ancient Greece as its 19-year-old architect, Henry Latrobe, was capable of giving it, concentrating chiefly on the portico. The result was that this modest place started the entire Greek Revival which so influenced Louisiana architecture.
