Notes:

This basilica dedicated to St. Mark is the national church of Venice in Rome, next to the Palazzo Venezia. From Pope Mark in 336 CE who built the first church, restorations were done over time by Pope Adrian I (792) Pope Gregory IV (833), Romanesque Bell Tower was built (1154), and major restorations by Pope Paul II (1465-70) gave the church its renaissance elements. To Albert himself the design the facade is attributed, and later Baroque additions were done by Cardinal Quirini (1654-7).
