Koca Mustafa Pasha Camii

Date: originally 6th century
Image View Description: Interior: Inner Narthex Facing Northeast
Work Type: architecture
Culture: Turkish
Subject: Islam
Location: Istanbul (Turkey)
Notes: This mosque was formerly a Eastern Orthodox church. It did however see heavy transformations in the late Byzantine era as well as during Ottoman rule. Although the architectural style was originally Byzantine, it now appears entirely Ottoman from the modifications. It was converted into a mosque in 1486 by Koca Mustafa Pasha under the rule of Selim I.
