      Notes
The base of the Central Sanctuaries has three stairways along the eastern side. The landings are decorated with male and female figures. Sandstone lions on the stairways guard the temple. There are six central towers, arranged in two rows of three. The front row is taller than the back, and the center tower of the front row is the tallest tower. The temple derives its name from the remains of three sandstone crouching sacred bulls in a row, facing the central towers, which represent Shiva's mount Nandi.
