Notes
While Antonio di Marco Gambello began the project, his name is more closely associated with the church of San Zaccarria. Pietro Lombardo completed this project. The cupola was probably completed circa 1470 under supervision of Pietro Lombardo, and the cupola's four Evangelists in relief are also by him. The nave was once covered with a wooden sprung-beam ceiling which was later substituted by the current cross vaulted ceiling. Side altars had paintings by Marco Basaiti (signed 1510), Vittorio Carpaccio (signed 1510), Giovanni Bellini (signed) which are all now in the Accademia Painting Gallery. The entrance to Contarini Chapel is to the right of the main altar. It is the last vestige of the Gothic foundation of the church and contains a 17th century funeral monument to Paolo, Agostino, and Ermolao Nani and on the altar is a Nativity by Giovanni Girolamo Savoldo, circa 1540. The tomb of Doge Cristoforo Moro and his wife Christina Sanudo is also located in this church.
