Built in 52 CE by Claudius, as the support for two aqueducts Aqua Claudia and Anio Novus. Later it was incorporated into the Aurelian Wall by emperor Aurelian in 271 CE. Also marks the intersection between two ancient roads: Via Praenistina and Via Labicana.
