Overview
Parish of the former diocese of Clermont in the gift of the adjacent priory of Souvigny. A nave of 5 bays flanked by aisles: originally there were 3 apses to the east, but the main apse was been demolished. The main vault, probably a longitudinal barrel vault, collapsed in the seventeenth century and was replaced with a wooden roof; groin vaults remain in the aisles. The westernmost bay is 17th century. There has been disagreement on the sequence of work of construction in the 12th century: most recently it has been suggested that construction began in the east and that as work progressed all the elements of sculpture and architectural articulation that are sometimes called "Burgundian" were introduced.
